Memorial Day Poem

Today is Memorial Day. It is a day of remembrance to the military men and women who served in the United States of America. A time to remember those who lost their lives serving our country.

I am re-re-posting a poem I wrote in 2018 for Memorial Day (revised version.) I have posted this on the blog each Memorial Day, and it has become a tradition.

Let Us Remember
Written by Brooklyne

Let us remember
The ones who taught
Let us remember
The ones who fought
Marching proud for the U.S.A

Let us remember
The ones who braved
Let us remember
The ones who saved
Fighting for the land of the free

Let us remember
The ones who doctored
Let us remember
The many who died
For the freedom of our country

Let us remember
The ones who stayed
Let us remember
The ones who prayed
On their knees for the battlefield

Let us remember
The ones who trained
Let us remember
The ones in pain
Making a noble sacrifice

Let us remember
The ones who never forget
Let us remember
The ones the battles blow hit
For our home of the free is because of the brave

Let us remember
The One who is true
Let us remember
The One who brought us through
Victory is In God We Trust

1 John 5:4
"For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.
And this is the victory
that has overcome the world- our faith.

What were your plans over Memorial Day weekend? What's your favorite Memorial Day song? What do you think, is it a good idea to make this poem a tradition on Showers of Blessings?

Many Blessings,

Today is Memorial Day.

A day of remembrance to the military men and women who served in the U.S.A.
A time to remember those who lost their lives serving our country.

I would like to re-post a poem I wrote last year for Memorial Day, but a revised version.

To Stay Awestruck

To Stay Awestruck
Written by Brooklyne
Indescribable!

Never let His glory fade
The beauty of this earth He made
From the countless stars, to every small grass blade.
Never let His glory fade

Uncontainable!

His mercy’s are new each day
Thanking Him always when you pray
For His rich blessings He bestows, come what may
His mercy’s are new each day

Incomparable!
His love, He freely gives
Those who are searching to believe
Love is what made Him suffer so that we could live
His love, He freely gives
Unchangeable!
We are His chosen children
To spread the Truth we’re given
Living in peace with our sisters and brethren
We are His chosen children

All powerful!

Just for us, He sent His Son
He has already fought and won
Leaving the ninety-nine to rescue the one
Just for us, He sent His Son

You are amazing God!

How then, do we forget?
All the criteria He has met
It seems all we do is worry and fret
How then, do we forget…

To stay awestruck?

This song, Indescribable, is what inspired this poem which I wrote at 12:30AM. My writing inspiration never sleeps! :) Anyway, I hope you are encouraged by this poem, To Stay Awestruck. Let this post serve us as a reminder to stay awestruck of our Amazing God!

Have you ever forgotten to stay truly awestruck? Name one thing that you find amazing about our God. Thank you so much for reading this poem! Have a wonderful autumn day, and I will see you in the comments! :)

The Trust Rope

The Trust Rope
Written by Brooklyne

Sometimes I view my trust in God as a rope
It stretches from God to me
And it is what I cling to for hope

My "trust rope" might grow taunt or even fray
It might take all my strength to hang on
But I have to remember to trust and obey

Having trust means to rely
Relying in God for everything can be hard
But God is patent and wants us to try

Our God is so great and just
He is our Rock and Fortress
In Him I put my trust!

Since I didn't write a poem last week, I am sharing one with you now.
Blogging is flexible like that, right? :)
I wrote this poem when I was thirteen or fourteen years old. It might not be the best written or rhyming poem, but just read the words. I think we all can be reminded that we can have hope in our trust rope.
I am at a place in my life that it seems as if everything is happening at once, that everything is changing and moving so fast. I can hardly keep up with it all. But that's where I go wrong. It's not up to me to keep up with it all, it's up to me to trust Him with it all.
For me, trusting is hard, because that means letting go.
Letting go of the worries, the fears, the stress.
Letting go is not as easy as it sounds, because you have to choose to let go. Giving God everything and trusting is a struggle for me, and I am no where close to having it figured out. I am trying, and I am learning, but that is where I am at. My Papa says sometimes, "If you are at the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on tighter."

Have you ever felt like you are at the end of your rope? What are some ways that you deal with stress? Because, I know by experience, chocolate doesn't fix problems! How can we strengthen our "Trust Rope?" Thank you for reading, and lets talk in the comments!

P.S. Sorry my picture is blurry! Oh well... :D
