In this page, I will share with y'all a little bit of life on the farm! (In other words, I'm going to brag about all of our crazy animals!)
_________________________________________________________________________
Winds of Faith Family Farm isn’t just any family farm. It is special. I like to say it is part of our journey. We have always had the desire to live in the country, to have that wonderful experience with all sorts of animals, to grow our own food, and to just live more simply. God made this possible for us, and in 2012 we moved. Our country living journey had begun.
Moving to our farm has been such a blessing. In the years we have lived here, we have had good times, bad times, ups and downs, highs and lows, joys and trials, all of which have made us into the people we are today. And I have to say, my family is AWESOME!!!
Lets begin with the tour of the farm animals, shall we?!
The horses!!! On this farm we have six horses and one mini.
Rosie is the BEST and my favorite horse! Yes, I can play favorites, because she is mine. *winks* Rosie is a 14 year old, chestnut, Morgan mare. She is 16hh. She is the lead mare, so she is the queen who rules the pastures! (Well, she was until we got a new horse... Ziggy!) She is super sassy and gives me a run for my money at times. Yes, she is a challenge, but I would not trade her for any other horse out there! She LOVES to eat! Grass, hay, grain, treats, and just about anything! Her birthday is May 18.
Apple is my younger sisters pony. She the cutest little sixteen year old, brown and white paint mare. She is 13hh. Apple sticks to Rosie like bees to honey. They are very close friends. Apple is taken on lots of trail rides and has the smallest, most bumpiest gaits ever!
Ruger is my younger sisters second horse. We bought Ruger for my younger sister because she outgrew Apple for long trail rides. He is a 16hh Paint gelding with the sweetest disposition. Ruger is 16 years old and is such a good fit for my sister! We bought Ruger in August of 2018.
Shawnee is my older cousins horse. He is a twenty-three years old, black and white paint, Quarter Horse gelding. Shawnee is so gentle and sweet, but minds his own business. He doesn’t need to be in your face all the time, unlike my horse! Shawnee has big gaits and is 15.3hh. He also loves to eat, like Rosie. Shawnee is being trained to compete in cowboy mounted shooting competitions!
Josie is my younger cousins pony. She is a seventeen year old, grulla, Quarter Pony mare. She is 14.1hh. Her color is very unique. She is so friendly and curious! She comes when she is called and will follow her owner anywhere. Josie is also being trained to compete in cowboy mounted shooting competitions! Sadly, we have recently found out that Josie is blind in her right eye.
Dumplin’ is our mini. He is a twenty-one year old, rose gray mini. He is only about 9hh. Dumplin' in the spring time, sheds tones of his furry coat! We bought Apple and Dumplin’ at the same time if you were wondering about his name;-). He is in his own pen because he can’t be in with the big horses. We tried, it didn’t work! Dumplin’ is trained to pull a Amish cart or wagon.
Next up is our two Nigerian goats!
Lilly is the sweetest doe ever! She is the coolest color and has blue eyes. She is a really good mother to Angel!
Angel is our sweet baby doe! She was born on Saturday, April 7, 2018. Little Angel is the first baby to be born on Winds of Faith. She was the cutest little surprise ever! Why I say surprise is that, believe it or not, we did not realize that Lilly was pregnant. It’s a long story, but we are so glad Angel is a healthy little kid! Isn't she adorable?!?!
The mini Juliana pigs!
Wilber has quite the character! He will drop down and lay on his side whenever you scratch his belly.
Daisy follows Wilber around. Her and Wilber, in the fall, will collect lots of grass to bring in their stall as a bed for the winter! This was a picture of when she was a baby!
We have chickens that we have raised from chicks.
Barn Cats!
We have 8 barn cats that have found their way to our farm! Oscar, Tar, Lavender, Tipper, George, Benny, Roo, and Pigeon are their names. Here are Pigeon, Roo and Tipper.
Dogs!
We have LOTS of dogs here on Winds of Faith! Nine including all of the farm, but just my family, we have five dogs. In order of pictures: Charlie is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Maisey is a long haired Chihuahua, Dakota is a rescue (aren’t those the best?), Maverick is a German Shepherd (also a rescue!), and Tucker is a long haired Chihuahua. Tucker is our newest addition, we got him when he was ten weeks old! He is so tiny and adorable!
Rosie's so beautiful! We have a mini that pulls a cart, too.
ReplyDeleteWe have the same farm animals as you, except for we don't have goats or pigs..... we have a huge cattle ranch. I love their babies in the spring!!!

ReplyDeleteSo sweet!! Dumplin looks so cute! Ha! And oh my goodness ANGEL is SO SMALL! I love her! :D You have a lot of dogs...and animals in general! Can I just say I want to GO there now? <3 I have a question, what does "13hh" mean? Does that mean height? The farm and animals look charming! ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Mallory!
ReplyDeleteSorry it took so long to reply. Thanks for reading about our animals! Dumplin is cute! He gets a really furry winter coat! And Angel is just the sweetest!!!! She loves to be held and loved on! <3
Ya, so, 13hh means 13 "hands high." Each "hand" is four inches. That's how horses are measured... hope that answers your question. :D
Thanks for stopping by!
Your horse Rosie reminds me of our horse Gracie! She's the boss hoss. Also I love the grulla color. We don't have a grulla yet, but I'm keepign my hopes up for one in the future. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso I hate goats, but I love cats and dogs, so cool beans on that!
If I may ask, did you start Winds of Faith as a business as well as a home? Does the farm support your family?
-Tessa
Hi Tessa!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by this page! Rosie is definitely the queen of the pasture. Josie is a really pretty color!
You hate goats?!? Even after you saw that cute adorable picture of Angel?!?
Winds of Faith is our family farm. But, no, we don't make a living off of the farm. We would like to be self sufficient someday... but we have to start somewhere! We have bees and make maple syrup from our trees. And gardening is a big part of summer! Do you like gardening?
This is so helpful you guys have the cutest animals and, all the animals are so sweet. The horses were so good when we rode them. Thanks, for being so nice to us when we were there.I am definitely excited to see you guys again.:)
