Amidst the Storm

Amidst the Storm
Written by Brooklyne

You are here amidst the storm
Wind, thunder, and sky a blazing
You make, mold, and transform
Your mighty power amazing

You are here amidst the storm
"Peace, be still" and the waves obey
Your presence comforts and warm
Those who are weary and astray

You are here amidst the storm
Lift and keep your eyes on Jesus
To the world, do not conform
In perfect peace He will keep us

You are here amidst the storm
Asking us to walk on water
You save us from sinking harm
You are our Heavenly Father

Matthew 14:27-31
"But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.' And Perer answered Him and said, 'Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on water.' So He said, 'Come.'
And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, 'Lord, save me!'
And immediately, Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, 'O you of little faith, why did you doubt?'
And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased."

We all go through storms in our lives, and sometimes we doubt. We become afraid of the boisterous wind. As soon as we take our eyes off of Jesus, we start to sink. But we cry out to Him, and He stretches out His hand and saves us!
Jesus was walking on water with Peter. Jesus was amidst the storm with Peter. And He is amidst the storm with us as well. He will never leave us to overcome our storms by ourselves, but instead, He will be right along side us! When Jesus is in the same boat as us, the wind will cease.

Have you ever felt like you were sinking in life's storms? Have you ever doubted that He could save you? How can we build our faith?
How is everyones May going? What are some things you are looking forward to this month? Lets talk!
P.S. Stay tuned for next weeks post titled, Miracles and Angels, where I share with you a story of how God actually saved my life.

  1. Great post, Brooklyne!
Yes, God is with us through the storms and that’s so comforting to remember! I think we all go through times where we struggle and feel like we’re caught in life’s storms ... but we just need to lean on Jesus, who can calm the storm and walk on water :).

My May has been going pretty good so far. Well, I looking forward to my birthday that’s coming up... How’s your May going?

    Thanks for sharing this!

  2. Thanks, Sarah!
Yes, it is comforting to know that he will never leave us to weather the storms alone. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, you are right, we all have our own different storms in our lives. But Jesus is always there to lean on!

I'm glad your May is going good! And happy early birthday!! My horses birthday is in May too:). She is turning 10! My month looks pretty busy but it's been good so far too! It is going by so fast!
We have started our garden this year. And my mom and I made goats milk soap!!!
    Do you like to garden?

    Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Thanks!
Where I used to live we lived more in the country... well more so then I do now... and we had a pretty good sized garden and one of my sisters and I would help out. We moved like 4 years ago and where we now live there isn’t as a good place for a garden... though two of my sisters like growing flowers :).
      Goats milk soap? Cool!

  3. May is CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY!!!!!! Got a wild work schedule (working two full time positions at the moment, as we change things around), and currently there's no fence separating the back yard and the pasture, as I'm in the middle of replacing it...and books to read and write and I haven't run in FOREVER and it's hot and beautiful outside and then got a brief vacation with family this weekend and then a friend's wedding and THE MADNESS CONTINUES

    *gasps for air*

    Sorry, it's a madhouse here.

Looking forward to next week's post! I love hearing stories about the wonderful things that God does!

  4. Wow! You do have a CRAZY month! :)

No fencing to separate the backyard and the pasture sounds like it could get interesting with the horses! Fencing is definitely important! We once had our mini get out of a broken fence, let's just say we mended the fence really quickly after that! :D

I hope you have a GREAT vacation!
Hang in there! I'm sure things will calm down soon.:)

    God is good!

    Thanks for commenting, Julian!

    1. I do have white tape/temporary fencing set up, but still...it's temporary, lol. The TWH I had was around 17 hands, so he had leaned over the fence to get grass and squished it down to half the original height. Now that he's gone, the fencing is finally going to be redone!

  5. True, true! I find myself sinking as soon as my eyes are off of Him. Wonderful post! :) May's been crazy busy so far. I had show week (for a musical), Mother's Day stuff, studying for tests, field trips, goats, everything! Looking forward to your next post! :D

  6. Hi Mallory, thanks for checking out my blog! Yes, as long as we keep our eyes on Jesus, he will keep us from sinking. Sometimes this is hard to stay focused on Him throughout all the boisterous wind. I'm so glad that He never gives up on us and is always with us through thick and thin.

My May has been pretty busy too! Sounds like you are having a very productive month so far! Thanks for commenting!

I just finished school, so I'm pretty excited about that! Hope you have a great May.

  8. Thanks Autumn!
I'm glad you liked reading my poem! Your right, we all need to be reminded that God is with us and amidst our storms. He is faithful to stand beside us and lift us up from sinking.

Yay!!! Good for you! I'm pretty much done too! So what are your plans after graduation? Ok, I know, everyone asks that question. :D I really am not sure of what I will do next... But I trust Gods got it under control. My May has been pretty good so far! Have a great day!
