Give it to God

Give it to God
written by Brooklyne

Give it to God
No matter big or small
Give it to God
No matter short or tall

Give it to God
No matter wide to deep
Give it to God
No matter shallow or steep

Give it to God
No matter heavy or light
Give it to God
No matter dim or bright

Give it to God
No matter thick or thin
Give it to God
No matter where or when

Give it to God
No matter high or low
Give it to God
No matter fast or slow

Give it to God
No matter the circumstance
Give it to God
He'll give you a second chance

So, no matter what it is
Give it to God!

Psalm 55:22
"Cast your burden on the Lord,
And He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the
righteous to be moved."

We all struggle with giving it to God, whatever the case may be. God wants us to let go and cast our burdens on Him, because He will sustain us. So, what are some ways we can do this? How do we step back and let God take control of everything? Lets talk in the comments below!

Leaping for Joy

Lame by birth. His name, unknown. He was helpless.

Everyday, this man was carried to the temple called, Beautiful, to ask for alms. He took donations and charity from the people who came to the temple. One day, as he was laying there, Peter and John came along and saw him.

Peter says, “Look at us.”

The man, thinking that they were like everyone else who gave him silver and gold, looks up at them. In Acts 3:6-9, the man receives so much more than he expected.

“Then Peter said, ‘Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up
 and walk.’
And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
so he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them- walking and leaping, and praising God.”
And all the people saw him walking and praising God.”

God healed this man! It was a miracle that everyone marveled at! If you read more in this chapter, you will see that this healing opened the door for Peter and John to minister and preach to all who saw that man walk again.

The Bible does not give us much detail about this man, or the situation he was in, but we do know that The Great Physician healed him. As soon as he was healed, he went walking, leaping, and praising God!

God gave this man a gift, the gift of healing. The lame man was so happy to receive this gift, that he was, in fact, leaping for joy! Because of the joy in his heart, and the way he was praising God, he was a witness to all those people. This was quite a testimony!

So, how can we relate to the lame man?

We are sinners, and because of sin, we are lame and broken. But love would not let this be where it all ends. God sent His only begotten son, Jesus Christ to take away the sins of the world. God gives us sinners a avenue. We are given the gift of love, and the choice to let Jesus bear our sins. When we accept this gift of love and forgiveness, we are healed.

When we realize what great love this is, our hearts will be bursting with the joy of the lame man. Leaping joy! It is my hope that our joy will seep through to those around us, so we can share this gift that is open to the hearts and minds of everyone!

What does the gift of love mean? It means…

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
does not behave rudely, does not seek it’s own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;
does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in truth;
bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are
tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.”

No matter how many times I read these words, I am blown away!  This is God’s definition for love! God’s gift is the love in 1 Corinthians, a love that never fails. Once we wrap our minds around such an amazing gift, we will want to leap for joy!

Romans 8:38,39
“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,
nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our
 Lord.”

Walking by Faith

Walking by Faith
Written by Brooklyne

For we walk by faith
And not by sight
Trusting God's guidance
His star so bright

His helping hand leads
And we follow
He is our Teacher
Today and tomorrow

He is the Potter
And we, His clay
He is our Shepherd
God leads the way

God gives perfect peace
He gives us love
Shows us mercy and
Hope from above

I know He's the Way
The Truth, and the Light
For we walk by faith
And not by sight!

2 Corinthians 5:7
"For we walk by faith, not by sight."

Proverbs 3:5,6
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him;
And He shall direct your paths."

Psalm 23:1
"The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want."

Sea Glass Treasures

We have all broken glass before. When something as breakable and fragile as glass falls onto a hard surface, the outcome is it shaders. Haven't you ever cringed at the ear splitting sound of glass breaking? Or slowly opened your eyes to find a pile of sharp glass pieces? I think we all have. As they say, “Accidents happen.”

Once upon a time, I was vacationing to Outer Banks, NC. The gritty sand, unique shells, gentle breeze, and the salty waves were everything a beach should be. We even got to see wild horses on the beach! One of the things I noticed was that everyone seemed to collect sea glass just as much as the pretty shells. Why would you want to keep discarded glass pieces found on the shore?

 Because they saw beauty in the smooth broken glass.

Here’s how it works. Just like shells, once the broken, sharp glass is in the ocean, it’s controlled by the water. When the water is calm and peaceful, the glass rests on the ocean floor while the water gently rolls over it. This also means that when the wind stirs the water into angry waves, the glass is swept up right in the middle of things.

It is tossed and turned, this way and that, all the while being washed to shore. Somehow, as the glass travels from deep water to the shallow beach, it is changed. What once was a rigid, sharp glass edge, has now become smooth and polished. What once was a discarded, broken piece of trash, has now become a treasure.

We are very much like sea glass. We are sinners, sharp and broken sinners. We live in a world of waves. Sometimes when things are calm and peaceful, we sink to the ocean floor and rest comfortably. Nothing messes with us down there, we think we are safe and like the way things are. We are in our comfort zone. We don’t want to change.

But other times, when trials come our way, we are swept up in those waves. Tossed and turned. We try fighting it, but the current is to strong. It is uncomfortable and we feel like we are at the end of our rope. We think we can’t go on any longer, that there is no hope.

Rejoice! Count it all joy. Because there is hope! Hope in the Lord. God is the One who is in control. Be patient and trust the One who knows the biggest picture. Talk to God, tell Him you fiercest wave. Give it to God. Let go! If we trust in Him, it doesn’t matter the size of the wave, let them crash around you. We have peace knowing that God is bigger.

Romans 12:12
“rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;”

Rejoice! Be Patient! Pray! Trust! Let Go! Have Peace!

Just like the sea glass, as the waves toss and turn getting closer to the shore, we are getting closer and closer to our shore- heaven. Once we reach that shore we will be smooth, polished, whole, and clean from sin. We have to go through all these trials in order to be smooth. We have to be tossed and turned until we realize that God is the only One who can help us. After we give our burdens to Him, after we trust in him, only then can we be changed. Only then can our brokenness become beautiful. Only then will we be found a true treasure!

We have a choice to make everyday in how we deal with our waves. Will we freak out and try to use our own strength? Or will we turn to God, trusting Him and giving Him our worries?

Psalms 46:1-3
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling."

James 1:2-6
"My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and with our reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind."
